Dermot Kennedy has had an incredible 12 months - and we caught up with him at the BRIT Awards 2020! The singer, who is best known for songs 'Power Over Me' and 'Outnumbered', is performing at the ceremony and is also nominated for International Male Solo Artist.

We spoke to Dermot on the red carpet and he revealed what it means to him to be nominated at the BRIT Awards, "It means an awful lot. Everybody who's here works very hard on their music so it's nice to be acknowledged in that way. It's nice to be in that circle."

He also revealed which artist he was most looking forward to seeing perform, "I'm very excited to see Billie Eilish. We crossed paths a lot during the summer at different festivals around Europe, like Holland and Germany, and so I'm just excited to catch that. She's doing such a good job of handling that level of fame."

Dermot confirmed that he'd been a fan for a while, and added, "It's cool when someone that famous is very credible musically too."

When asked which fellow BRIT-goer he'd love to work with, Dermot answered immediately - saying Dave, and adding that he's been "harassing" the rapper on Instagram. "I would love a collaboration, I think it would be such an exciting thing," he went on. "I think he's just so talented, and he's crazy young."

Dermot also opened up about which category he would add to the BRIT Awards, saying that he thinks a music video category would go down well. "I think some people downplay how important that is, I think it's a very important part of music in peoples' catalogues."

But who would he put in that category? "Billie Eilish has had some top videos, do you know my favourite video? 'Lover of the Light' by Mumford and Sons. Idris Elba's in it, it's so good."

And the most important question of the night... What's Dermot's go-to hangover grub? "I go super brunchy, classic Instagram - avocado on toast, that's me."
