It's been a month since the Swedish DJ Avicii was found dead and in that month there have been many emotional tributes to the popular DJ. The most recent tribute was held at the Billboard Music Awards 2018 over the weekend. Hosted by singer Halsey and DJ duo The Chainsmokers, they read a tribute to Avicii before presenting the Top 100 Songs award.
Andrew Taggart, one half of The Chainsmokers, said, "His passing was a great loss for the music world and for us. He was an artist who inspired so many in so many ways. Simply put, he meant so much to us and everyone in the EDM community." Watch the moment below.
Halsey the added, "Everyone who worked with him would agree that he was such a joy and it makes this tragedy all the more painful. It's a reminder to all of us to be there and to support and to love all of our friends and family members who may be struggling with mental health issues."
Fans of the late DJ came forward to comment on the tribute saying, 'Thank you for mentioning it and mental health awareness' and 'Such a legend I will miss him so much'.
Another fan simply tweeted, 'R.I.P. @Avicii'.
The announcement of Avicii's death last month shocked music fans around the world. On the 20th April a statement was released by his Avicii's representative said, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
At the time many artists tweeted their messages of condolence including, Calvin Harris who said, 'Devastating news about Avicii, a beautiful soul, passionate and extremely talented with so much more to do. My heart goes out to his family. God bless you Tim x' and Dua Lipa who said, 'Such sad news to hear about Avicii passing. Too young and way too soon. My condolences go out to his family, friends and fans x'.
Since Avicii's untimely death, many artists have also paid tribute to the DJ during their sets, including Rita Ora who collaborated with the DJ on the 2017 song 'Lonely Together'. Performing their song for the first time since his death, Rita was at a music festival in Holland when she paused in her set to say, "I want to say something really, really special because it's going to be hard for me to sing this next song, and I'll tell you why."
She went on to explain how Avicii "changed her life", asking the 40,000 strong crowd to join her in a minute's silence before she sang 'Lonely Together'. During the silence the screens faded to black with Avicii's name and dates of his birth and death.

As the 'Firestone' DJ brought his set to a close he said, "Today is a very sad day for music. Only today I heard the news that Avicii passed away, only 28-years-old, Avicii was my biggest musical inspiration, and he was the reason I started making music."
Kygo continued, "I don't think I would be on this stage tonight if it wasn't for him, and I know he has inspired millions of other producers out there. So, I want to end my set tonight with my favourite Avicii song."
Avicii had a number of hits over recent years including 'Wake Me Up', 'Hey Brother' and most recently 'Lonely Together'.
