Ariana Grande's taken to Twitter to defend her pal Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's engagement, claiming they're 'human beings who love and have lives' in a series of deleted posts.

Ari - who faced criticism when her boyfriend of just four weeks Pete Davidson popped the question last month - jumped to the defense of the couple as she responded to a comment suggesting manager Scooter Braun had set up the proposal for publicity.

Replying to a tweet which read, 'First ariana get engaged to pete Davidson and now Justin bieber to hailey Bladwin the devil works hard but Scooter Braun works harder' sic, Ari immediately clapped back.

She wrote, '..... you do realize we are human beings who love and have lives......right......? And that Scooter is a wonderful human being too who cares first and foremost about our health and happiness? Love is lit. S--- happens. I hope to god it happens to you too. You deserve it.' sic

Then, when one fan claimed, 'It was just a stan twitter joke, we stan and love scooter,' Ari responded, 'okay okay 🙈 be nice to that man. he’s wonderful. and very human. always puts his artists’ health and happiness first.' sic

This all comes after the news Justin proposed to Hailey in the Bahamas broke, as it's been widely reported that "two eye witnesses" spotted him getting down on one knee on the Caribbean island on Saturday night.

Justin's dad Jeremy then seemingly confirmed the news on Instagram, saying, 'Proud is an understatement! Excited for the next chapter!'

Hailey's uncle Stephen wrote, 'Sweet smile on my face ! me&wife (Kennya) Always pray 4 Gods will !! He is moving in the hearts of JB&HB Let’s all pray for His will to be done.

🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Love you 2 so much !!! #Godstiming #bestisyettocome Congrats ❤.'

It's no surprise that Ariana has jumped to defend Justin's engagement, as she herself became engaged to her boyfriend Pete Davidson last month after a few weeks of dating.

After weeks of speculation, the comedian confirmed the news in an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
