Becky Hill has been teasing new music for a while now, with a second album on the horizon, and now the singer has dropped 'Never Be Alone', her first song of the year. The song, a collaboration with Australian producer Sonny Fodera, was released on 19th January 2024 and you can hear it on Downtown Radio.
Along with releasing her new song, Becky dropped her fire-filled music video, which was shot on location in Morocco’s Agafay Desert just outside Marrakesh. In the video, Becky can be seen moving from daylight to dusk, while the song intensifies and we see her singing surrounded by a ring of fire.
Speaking about her new song, Becky said: "'Never Be Alone' was born out of a post lockdown world where isolation and distance were forced upon the world. With my partner and I both being in music, we really felt the full force of an imposed lockdown on the events industry.
"Our entire careers were in jeopardy and I really felt the downward spiral of someone I loved, who’d worked his entire adult life curating line ups for festivals and clubs. I wrote this song with my long time collaborator Karen Poole (‘Remember’, ‘History’ and ‘Disconnect’) drawing on inspiration from the time we lived apart, feeling helpless with his despair."
She added: "What I love about this single is that it has transcended lockdown and feels so relevant still in a time when we need to be there for each other now more than ever. I’ve been playing it in my live sets this summer and it has been a joy watching the crowd’s reaction, but I’m excited to show people what Sonny Fodera has added to this anthem; he’s one of the only people left in the dance space I haven’t collaborated with yet and I can’t wait to release this record alongside him."
What does the single artwork look like?
Before her song's release, Becky was keen to update her fans on her new single. As well as revealing she's recorded the video before Christmas, she confirmed the artwork has been shot and designed by Sam Neill.
The singer, who previously shared a short studio clip, also shared footage of her performing her new song at a gig, saying: 'my first single of 2024 with @sonnyfodera is just over 2 weeks away! 🫂 Never Be Alone is coming and i am gassed for this one to hit your airwaves…presave is in my bio, music video has been shot, artwork reveal pending. i’m ready, you? 👀' (sic)
Becky's new song is a collaboration with Australian DJ and producer Sonny Fodera, and in December she took to Instagram to share footage of the pair working in the studio.
Despite only being a short clip in the video, fans were already loving it, with one writing: 'Becky got the vision aswell as the voice 👏❤️', and another saying: 'Couple of legends, excited to hear this one 👊🏻'.
In December, Becky also confirmed the music video has been shot, as she told her fans: 'the video to the next single was shot last week so i’m gonna begin the official countdown to the release date which is the 19th of January!! put it in ya diaries, it’s hot stuff 🔥' (sic)
At the time she shared a couple of photos of herself, wearing a long black dress, against a backdrop of flames and a rocky landscape.
Fans were left very excited by the news, with one fan writing: 'Work of Art 🔥🔥🔥', another wrote: 'Can’t wait 🔥🔥🙌'.
Mistajam wrote: 'My birthday on the 19th. How kind of you to get me a gift 🤣'.
Becky previously told us about her new music, telling Sam Thompson: "It's back to my roots really. There's lots of proper club records on there which I'm really excited about. I've been back in writing more drum and bass as well. I actually think I've written one of the best drum and bass records since I've written 'Afterglow', which I'm really excited about."
