Yellow weather warning issued for Northern Ireland this week
Snow is on the way ❄️
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice to hit Northern Ireland this week.
The warning comes into affect from midnight on Friday 7th Jan to 10am. It looks like frequent sleet and snow showers may lead to some difficult driving conditions and disruption to travel on Friday morning.
Wintry showers arriving from the west overnight Thursday into Friday are likely to lead to a fresh covering of snow for areas. Most of the west of Northern Ireland will be affected, from Coleraine to Newry.
Possibly as much as 10 cm could fall on Friday morning, so it's important to take care when travelling.
What to expect
- Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
- Some brief power outages are possible with a risk of isolated lightning strikes
NI weekly weather forecast
