Belfast’s best comedy clubs right now!

For a night of good craic 🤣

By Josh Henry

With little to laugh about over the last while, and life slowly returning to normal, Belfast’s comedy scene is starting to spring back to action.

Watching stand-up on TV isn't the same as watching stand-up on stage. To watch it live is to be part of it, the raw and sometimes unedited version is even better.

So if you are in need of a night out and some local entertainment, then take a look at some of the best comedy spots Belfast has to offer.

Lavery’s Comedy Club

Ran by comedian Colin Geddis, the club made its return on the 1st July with a socially distanced show in the pool hall area of the bar. Known for showcasing local favourites like Aaron McCann and Ruairi Woods, as well as NI stand-up legends like Tim McGary.

Pugs Comedy Club

Hosted in the outdoor area in the Boneyard bar, the club which is fronted by funnyman Dave Elliot plays host to acts like Derry Girls' Diona Doherty and William Thompson. The club have done fundraising gigs for local charities like Aware NI.

Hatfield House- Comedy Supper Club

The Ormeau Road bar and restaurant recently launched their supper club with Lurgan's Micky Bartlett at the helm. The deal also includes a cheeky meal and dessert if the comedy wasn't enough! It returns this Thursday 8th July.

Limelight Comedy Club

The venue regularly hosts local acts' own solo stand-up shows like Holywood's own Shane Todd. Pre-pandemic the club ran a comedy club every Thursday with a mix of local comedians and acts from elsewhere in the UK like Paul Tonkinson.

Queens Comedy Club

Held in the Elmwood Hall, the Queens Comedy Club plays host to the big names in comedy, with shows coming later in the year from Adam Buxton, Tom Stade and Des Bishop.
