This gentle giant from the Artic ocean, nicknamed Wally, has spent his summer exploring Europe's hottest holiday destinations.

The much-loved walrus was first spotted off the coast of Cornwall back in May, then just a few weeks later was seen off the Isles of Scilly as he came up to boats to hello.

It's rare to see such a spectacular creature this far south, but this guy seems content just swimming peacefully from coast to coast.

He was recently spotted in Clonakilty, Co Cork, where he was filmed 'sailing' a luxury motorboat.

The large sea mammal, thought to be around four years old, has reportedly sunk one small boat and damaged several others on his visit to Cork.

Much like seals, walruses are semi-aquatic, which means they must come up on land (or a floating object) to rest.

During his stay on the Isles of Scilly, locals provided a purpose-built pontoon so Wally could rest his flippers.

Seal Rescue Ireland has launched an appeal for a pontoon or other floating platform for Wally to use as a "safe haul-out site, so that he can be effectively monitored, protected from disturbance and damage to property prevented".

Where will Wally go next? If you're out and about along the coast this weekend, be sure to keep an eye out. Experts are asking people to stay at least 100 metres to Wally, and for boat owners not to approach him in the water.
