Motorcyclist dies after collision with tractor outside Magherafelt

Police are urging another motorcyclist seen in the area to help with their enquires

A Motorcyclist in his 40s has died after a collision with a tractor outside Magherafelt on Tuesday night.

Police say the crash between a red Massey Ferguson tractor and a black Triumph Daytona motorbike happened shortly after 8:30 on Tuesday night.

The man on the bike was taken to hospital but died from his injuries. He has since been named as 49-year old Ainslie Gordon of Cookstown.

The Aughrim Road, between the Killyneese Road and the bypass roundabout, was closed while enquiries into the collision were conducted.

Sergeant Amanda McIvor has appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision, including another motorcyclist seen in the area at the time, or who has dash-cam footage which could assist officers with their enquiries to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1977 07/06/22.
