Derry Girls stars WOW on the 'pink' carpet at premiere for final series

It's been almost three years in the making, but trust us, the third and final series of Derry Girls is going to be totally worth the wait!
Stars of the smash-hit comedy show walked the 'pink' carpet last night at the Omniplex, in the heart of the city that inspired the series.
As fans of the show started to gather outside the event, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Jamie-Lee O'Donnell and writer Lisa McGee felt a touch of nerves for what is to be an emotional goodbye for the team.
McGee describes this show as a love letter to the city she grew up in. "You know I always say, the only boss you have is your audience, that's who is in charge. If they don't like it, that's serious, I just hope they do."
The show's director Michael Lennox shared his joy in shooting something so special here in Northern Ireland. "I just love filming here in Derry, it's one of the most cinematic places to film and be.
"For season three, we wanted to make it bigger, more ambitious and more cinematic than we ever have."
We caught up with cast mates and BFFs Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Erin Quinn) and Jamie-Lee O'Donnell (Michelle Mallon) on the 'pink carpet.'
"Today has been a really emotional day, I feel really really excited about it," commented Saoirse-Monica.
"I feel dead proud, I'm really proud of the show, and it's been just so amazing to have all our family and friends here to celebrate it together."
There's no place like home for Derry's Jamie-Lee. "I love coming home, I love meeting everybody, and chatting away."
She joked: "The only thing really now, is it takes me a bit longer to get through the town centre because everybody has a story they want to share with me to feed it back to Lisa."
This might be the final series for the small screen, but a reprisal of the story in a movie format has not been ruled out.
Actors Art Campion (Father Peter) and Ian McElhinney (Granda Joe) joked that they 'know nothing' when questioned.
"There's always rumours," joked Ian with a smile. "But you know I wouldn't guarantee anything."
When will Derry Girls series 3 begin?
