According to a recent survey released today by Lottoland, the most vivid memory people have of their return to school is covering textbooks with brown paper or old wallpaper.

Who else remembers this painful process, especially the clear adhesive book film that would crinkle within seconds. Many parents up and down the country were left wishing it was socially acceptable to wrap exercise books in tin foil.

Some of the least favourite memories included getting kicked out of class to stand in the corridor, faking an injury to get out of PE and smoking behind the bike shed.

Other throwback memories included the dreaded back to school nerves as the days counted down, shopping for new uniforms as well as the all important 'back to school' haircut.

The Red Berol Handwriting Pen was almost like a right of passage, once you had one of these bad boys in your pencil case you knew you were in the big leagues.

Take a look back at some of the most hilarious phrases only parents from here could get away with saying to their kids back in the day 🤣
