With over 200 million records sold worldwide, Garth Brooks is one of the world’s greatest solo artists.
Since bursting onto the scene 32 years ago with his self-titled 1989 debut album, Garth has built quite the collection of music.
His home is filled with shelves of glittering trophies and awards, not to mention a fanbase like no other.
With rumours speculating that the country star is reportedly planning a series of concerts in Dublin’s Croke Park next September, we thought we’d brush up on our Garth Brooks trivia.

Garth’s real first name is Troyal
Troyal is his father’s name too, but Garth is in fact his middle name.
His song ‘More Than A Memory’ broke one of the biggest country music records of all time
Back in 2007, his 51st single became the first-ever to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Before music, Brooks was training to be a professional baseball player
In 1999 the San Diego Padres signed him to a minor league deal and invited him to spring training. The next year, he signed with the New York Mets and took one more shot at the big leagues with the Kansas City Royals in 2004.
Brook’s success is out of this world…literally
In 1995, astronaut Colone Bill McArthur took a copy of Garth’s album The Hits which him when he visited the Russian space station in orbit.
Brooks has a Masters degree
This is no surprise, having sold so many millions of hits, but he received his Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma State University in 2011.
Brooks has a street named after him
There’s a street in his hometown Yukon, Oklahoma names after him
Brooks met his first wife when he threw her out of a bar
While working as a bouncer at the Tumbleweed Ballroom in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Brooks broke up a fight in the ladies’ room. One of the two women fighting was Mahl, who he later married and has three girls with.
Brooks’ named his daughter Taylor after his musical hero
Garth’s eldest daughter is believed to be given the name Taylor in honour of folk legend James Taylor
Brooks is a grandfather
