Sneak peak behind the scenes on set of new Belfast movie

Author: Emma Dickson

Stars walked the red carpet earlier this week at the Waterfront Hall for the Irish premiere of Belfast.

There's some pretty big names on the bill, Sir Kenneth Branagh of course, alongside Jamie Dornan and Dame Judi Dence.

But perhaps the most important name you need to remember is Jude Hill, he's destined for Hollywood some day soon!

Jude plays Buddy, a young version of Kenneth in this autobiographical film, that follows his childhood during the tumult of the late 1960s in Northern Ireland.

‘In Jude Hill,’ says Branagh, ‘we found a boy whose talent was ready to blossom but who was still enjoying himself as an ordinary kid. He has an extraordinary openness and is so natural in front of the camera that it was sometimes hard to believe this is his first film.’

We caught up with some of the dazzling cast on the red carpet to learn more about how special it is to premiere the film here in Belfast.

Jamie Dornan describes the film as a total one off! "I've done a lot of work set here, I'll endeavour to do more and more work here, it means everything to me.

"Much of this film is for the people here, for the resilience, the brilliance, the humour and for everything that the great people of this city and part of this world has been through."
