The 2 Johnnies drop part three of viral 'GAA Catfish' podcast
Last updated 13th Jan 2025
One of the hottest topics back in 2022 is set for a revival, as The 2 Johnnies announce their 'GAA podcast' is back for a third episode.
The first two episodes told the story of host Johnny B - heartbroken and lonely - who fell for a follower on Instagram, that turned out to be a notorious catfish.
Along the way there were a couple of red flags that popped up, one being that she didn’t have a WhatsApp profile image and another that she talked about her exes and previous relationships a lot.
Running their own investigation, the comedy duo spent €79 on an image search app that helps identify people in photos, to identify the ‘real Cora’ in the Instagram pictures.
Turns out that Cora’s account was linked to a whole host of fake accounts messaging young men across Ireland, which led to a second episode and now a THIRD.
Sharing the news on social media, the duo wrote: "Hello hello everyone, in 2022, when we released the GAA Catfish podcast, we never intended to revisit the topic or produce a third episode.
“However in recent months, several individuals have reached out to us, and as we began to understand the scale of the issue, we felt compelled to take action.
“This episode addresses a deeply concerning pattern affecting many, particularly young men in Ireland.
“Our goal is not to harm or shame anyone but to ignite a crucial conversation and help prevent further harm. The experiences shared with us highlight a situation that cannot be ignored, and we feel a responsibility to present these stories respectfully in the hope that others might find support and call on social media companies to do more to combat fake profiles.
“Most importantly, we aim to bring an end to this pattern of catfishing once and for all.”
