There’s something so special about this time of year! Could it be longer nights, the cosy knits or the endless cups of hot chocolate perhaps?
As the festive season draws closer, it’s fantastic to see more events pop-up.
And what could be better than a trip to see the dazzling twinkling lights on display at Northern Ireland’s first lantern festival, Bright Lights Botanic.
Over the weekend, hundreds of families strolled through the magical gardens, sparkling with over 18,000 light bulbs, 25,000 meters of neon tubes, 10,000 meters of tree lighting, and some 160 lantern artisans.
The team behind this amazing new event are behind the phenomenally successful “Wild Lights” at Dublin Zoo which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
71,200 working hours were put in to help pull this together, with 15,000 meters of silk, 40 tons of steel and 20,000 meters of electric cable.
What’s involved?
Follow the enchanting trail of BOBO the gnome as he embarks on a wondrous Christmas journey through the 80,000 square meters of the Botanical Gardens.
Along the route, vendors will offer tasty festive delights, from hot food and sweet treats to spiced winter warmers of hot chocolate.
Do you need tickets?
This spectacular lights display will run from 13th November to 9th January from 5.00pm to 9.00pm daily.
