He'd only been in the Love Island villa for eight days, but on Tuesday 11th June, ITV released a statement confirming 20-year-old Sherif Lanre had left the Love Island after breaking the rules.

After coupling up with pharmacist Anna Vakili in the launch show, it had looked like things were starting to blossom between the pair, but now Sherif has been removed, leaving fans wondering.

Why was Sherif Lanre removed from Love Island?

On Tuesday 11th June, ITV released a statement confirming Islander Sherif Lanre had left the villa after breaking the rules.

A Love Island spokesperson said, “After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”

Sherif also issued a statement and said, “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa. I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from. I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside."

What rules did Sherif Lanre break on Love Island?

Despite confirming Sherif's removal, ITV did not reveal which Love Island rules the 20-year-old broke, and declined to comment further on the situation.

Who is Sherif Lanre?

Sherif Lanre is a chef and semi-pro rugby player. Oh, and a contestant on Love Island 2019. Although you might think a chef would have good romantic fortune, Sherif has revealed it's not quite the case, "As a chef, you’re not really front of house and not many people see you but at the moment I’m doing more service and am finding that a lot of girls are hitting on me and I’m hitting on them. I’ve even been told off by my manager!"

When asked what made him the perfect person to go on the show, he said, "I’m upbeat and cheeky and outrageous with my own friends so hopefully that continues in the villa. I’m always on a mission to make people laugh. That’ll be of value in there."

And describing his own looks, Sherif said, "Being honest, probably a seven and a half. Maybe an eight on a good day. I don’t see it at all but I’ve been told my eyes are my best feature." N'aww.

How old is Sherif Lanre?

He's 20-years-old.

Where is Sherif Lanre from?

He's a LANDANER, just like Anna Vakili.

What's Sherif Lanre type on paper?

Well, he certainly knows what he wants, "She needs to be able to hold a conversation. I feel that I make people laugh so I want a girl that makes me laugh, even if that’s just from being herself and not trying to be funny. A nice smile and nice teeth. And nice bum! That’s one of my criteria."

And what about what he doesn't want? "If someone wants to be the centre of attention, that’s a pretty big turn-off for me. I don’t really like girls that love being in the spotlight because that’s not really what I actually want for myself. And my biggest turn-off is bad hygiene."

Seems to be a common turn-off within this year's Love Island lot.

Who is Sherif Lanre's celebrity crush?

Could this inform our predictions for who he might couple up with? "My first celebrity crush was Vanessa Hudgens. She was my first crush when she was in High School Musical. Tori Brixx is my ideal date, she’s a model and influencer. She goes out with Rich the Kid, a rapper."

Has Sherif Lanre ever cheated?

He said, "I can have a wandering eye but I am pretty loyal. That would be an absolute must on the show."

Hmm. That's not a very definitive answer, Sherif... 👀

What will Sherif Lanre be like in the villa?

Explaining his three best traits, Sherif said that he's able to "lift anyone’s mood" who happens to be around him, whether he's "trying to or not." He explained further, "I feel like if you’re down and around me, you’ll end up being a bit more upbeat. I don’t like to get into conflicts, I would rather spare someone’s feelings."

And his three worst? "Number one would be that I’m pretty outrageous, that can also translate to the bad side. On top of that, I laugh at everything which sometimes gets me into trouble. I can’t really take anything seriously. My actual laugh, my hysterical laugh is pretty ugly. People around me get that a lot and have to deal with it."

When it comes to going after a girl that he really likes, Sherif isn't about to go up against loads of lads for her - or so he says. "I’m not prepared to fight for a girl that has got loads of boys after her. Unless I feel like they are not the boys she is looking for.

"If she is entertaining five different boys and whittling them down then I’m not prepared to be the sixth. I’m willing to go pretty far and pull it out of the bag in myself for a girl. If it’s to do with other boys, then no."

On the subject of bro code, Sherif's interpretation is, "Nothing leaves this circle," going on to explain, "Whatever we’re talking about doesn’t need to be relayed, not just to females but to any other people outside the bro circle. Anything we speak about, we keep to ourselves. And never fight with each other about anything outside that circle. Keeping it real, really!"

How can I follow Sherif Lanre on social media?

You can get Sherif on both Twitter and Instagram at the handle sherif_lanre.
