PETA's petition to END animal trials on I'm A Celebrity reaches 13K signatures

The animal rights organisation want to stop animal cruelty

Following viewer backlash, already this year's series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here has saw the celebs no longer eating live animals, but animal rights organisation PETA want to put an end to animal trials all together.

PETA, which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, started a petition at the beginning of the 2019 series, and already a massive 13,000 angry people have signed it in an attempt to stop animal trials on the popular show which is fronted by Ant and Dec.

In a statement released to the Daily Mirror, PETA said, "After nearly two decades on our screens, during which thousands of complaints have been logged with Ofcom, it's beyond shameful that I'm a Celeb is still allowed to roll out the same tired, tacky, moronic, and – worse – cruel 'challenges' year after year.

"People are no longer wondering whether a celebrity will win plastic stars but rather whether the show will ever try something original, witty, or smart and lay off the animals who are terrified, abused, and even killed for a cheap, immature laugh.

"Accosting animals, no matter their shape or size, should be banned in the entertainment industry – and that's why PETA has launched an online campaign urging ITV to scrap these disgusting stunts and replace them with real challenges suitable for this century."
