It's been revealed Strictly Come Dancing contestant, La Voix, has permanently withdrawn from the competition due to injury. Despite earlier saying the drag queen would receive a bye through to next week, the BBC announced during tonight's show (22nd November) that she won't return after all.
Presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman shared the news, telling viewers it meant there would be no "dreaded dance-off" this week. They said: "As you may have heard La Voix sustained an injury meaning she can’t dance in Blackpool tonight. Following further advice from our medical team, we can now confirm very sadly that she has had to withdraw from the competition."
La Voix took to Instagram to share her own statement, saying: "I'm absolutely devastated to be withdrawing from Strictly Come Dancing. This isn't the glittering exit I ever imagined, and it breaks my heart to feel like I'm letting people down. My spirit wanted to keep dancing but my foot had other ideas!
'Thank you for every cheer, every vote and every sparkle of support - it's meant the world to me. This isn't the end I imagined but I'll cherish this forever. La Voix.'
Earlier in the week, La Voix (real name Christopher Dennis) released a statement where she explained she wouldn't take part in the Blackpool special, writing: "I've been advised that I'm unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won't be dancing in such an iconic venue."
While an official announcement from the popular TV show read at the time: 'Due to injury, La Voix has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance in this weekend's Blackpool specials.
'In line with the rules of Strictly Come Dancing, La Voix and Aljaž will receive a bye through to next week when it is hoped they will be able to dance again.
'We wish La Voix the very best for a speedy recovery.'
