Grey’s Anatomy returns to UK screens this week
We’ve waited WAY too long for season 17 🎉
Last updated 2nd Apr 2021
The seventeenth season of Grey’s Anatomy has been available in the US since November 2020. However, UK fans will be delighted to hear that new episodes will return to our screens very soon!
Rather than a boxset, viewers will have to wait for weekly episodes, premiering Wednesday, April 7th on Sky Witness.
Many fans have struggled to avoid spoilers on social media over the past year, as the next season dramatically introduces Covid-19.
The opening episode picks up one month into the pandemic, and it’s all hands-on-deck as the talented Grey Sloan Memorial team find themselves on the frontline tackling Covid-19.
Due to the pandemic and filming restrictions, there are only 16 episodes in this series, making it the shortest season of the show ever.
The show's pilot aired over 15 years ago, on March 27th 2005 on ABC, which makes it television's longest-running prime-time medical drama.
Lead actress Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr Meredith Grey (television's highest paid actor) teased reporters last week when not knowing the show will finish. It is currently unknown if the show will continue beyond its current 17th season.
She said: “To end a show this iconic, how do we do it? I just want to make sure we do this character and this show and the fans, I want to make sure we do it right."
