Although the official line-up was confirmed back in 2021, ITV bosses have been pretty silent on when the 2022 series of hit show Dancing On Ice will begin, but we finally now have a start date!

The official ITV press centre confirmed the greatest show on ice will return to our screens on Sunday 16th January at 6.30pm.

The tweet read: 'Confirmed: Dancing on Ice returns Sunday 16 January at 6.30pm on ITV and ITV Hub'.

The launch show, which will be once again hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, will air between 6.30pm-8pm, introducing this year's celebrity cast and professional skaters.

Bosses started to unveil this year's line-up back in October, with Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor and Happy Mondays star Bez being the first two announced.

It's now also been confirmed that Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse has joined the judging panel, alongside Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

Speaking of her new role, Oti said: “As a professional dancer I have always had so much respect for the skating professionals on Dancing On Ice.

"It is an exceptional skill that is also so beautiful to watch. I'm feeling really enthusiastic about joining the panel alongside the legendary Torvill and Dean and Ashley Banjo. I can't wait to see the celebrities thrive as they learn how to ice-skate and to champion the professional skaters as they create incredible choreography.”

With this year's celebs having been in training for a number of months now, posting clips of themselves on the ice on social media, it's no surprise that professional dancer Brendan Cole is one of the early favourites!

Will he be as successful as James Jordan in 2019?

Dancing On Ice 2022 will begin at 6.30pm on Sunday 16th January, with a bumper 90 minute episode.
