After retired ballerina Darcey Bussell sensationally QUIT her judging role on Strictly Come Dancing yesterday (Wednesday 10th April), it looks like former X Factor judge Cheryl could be about to replace her.

Cheryl, who appeared as a mentor on BBC's The Greatest Dancer earlier this year, is being hotly tipped to land a place on the popular dancing show, after impressing viewers with her dance knowledge.

Of course, the former Girls Aloud singer has a very loyal fan base, with bosses reportedly keen to land a new audience by landing Cheryl as a judge.

It comes after Dame Darcey quit Strictly Come Dancing, following seven successful years on the show.

She wrote on Twitter, 'It has been a complete privilege for me to be part of Strictly, working with such a talented team,' she wrote. 'I have enjoyed every minute of my time and will miss everyone from my fellow judges, the presenters, the dancers, the musicians, the entire back stage team, and especially the viewers of the show, who have been so supportive.'

She continued, 'I am not leaving because of any upset or disagreement at all, I am just stepping away to give more focus to my many other commitments in dance, after seven truly wonderful years that I can’t imagine having gone any better.

'I know I will miss being part of this unique show and the fact that it celebrates dance is something I am so passionate about. I hope that I may be very lucky to be asked back again one day,' she added.

Meanwhile, after years of being a judge on The X Factor, Cheryl jumped over to the BBC earlier in 2019, appearing alongside Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse on Simon Cowell's new show, The Greatest Dancer.

Despite making it all the way to the final with her act Harry And Eleiyah, Cheryl was beaten by Strictly star Oti, but the mum-of-one was very positively received by viewers of the show.

However, despite all of the rumours regarding Cheryl's potential new job, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
