Following the success of shows like Line of Duty and Happy Valley, BBC bosses launched a brand new crime drama in 2023, in the form of Blue Lights. With three series so far and another on the way, the show has quickly became one of the biggest shows across Northern Ireland, and beyond.
As we await the fourth series, let's brush up on our Blue Lights knowledge - starting with where the series was filmed! From the Monkstown and Dundonald to Granton Park housing estate, it's easy to spot some of the various filming locations used in the show.
Where is Blue Lights filmed?
Filming for the first series of Blue Lights started in February 2022, with the cast filming scenes in Northern Ireland, and the surrounding areas. Some notable locations include Commercial Court, Stormont Parliament Building and Waterfront Plaza.
After the show was given the green light for a second series, filming commenced in the Summer of 2023, with locations including Netherleigh House, The Titanic Museum, and Gilford Mill in Craigavon.
Filming for series three commenced on 7th February 2025, with actress Siân Brooke revealing at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday 11th May that the team had one week left of filming. Over the last few months, the cast and crew have been spotted on set in various locations, including Cathedral Gardens and Amelia Hall in Belfast City Centre.
Filming for series four is expected to begin in early 2026.

'Blue Lights' police station, Blackthorn, has a new home for series two - Netherleigh House - the city's Old Department for the Economy Building.
The Cock & Hens Bar (Series 2)
An important location is series two, The Cock & Hen pub in East Belfast was transformed into The Loyal pub.
Titanic Museum (Series 2)
Episode two of the second series sees a secret rendezvous at the Titanic Museum –hiding in plain sight!
Gilford Mill (Series 2)
Series two's gripping opening sequence sees the team take on a dramatic riot training exercise. This was filmed at Gilford Mill in Craigavon.
Commercial Court (Series 2)
Without giving too much a way, love is in the air in series two, with many a shift finishing up a pub in the Cathedral Quarter.

After two huge series, BBC bosses confirmed in February the amazing news that the hit series has already been commissioned for a third and fourth series, with filming for series three taking place between February-May 2025.
What is Blue Lights about?
Blue Lights follows a team of new PSNI probationary recruits as they navigate their way through their first few months in a uniquely complex place to be a response police officer.
The first series amassed a huge seven million viewers, resulting in the show being the biggest drama series in Northern Ireland in 2023. The show then won a BAFTA Award at the 2025 ceremony in May, taking home the prize of 'Drama Series' ahead of Sherwood, Supacell and Wolf Hall: The Mirror And The Light.

The first three series of Blue Lights are available to watch on BBC iPlayer now. All series are made up of six episodes.
