They've been regular hosts over the last few weeks, but as the Summer holidays take place, popular presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary have announced they are taking a well-earned break from hit daytime show This Morning.

The pair fronted Friday's (28th July) show, which was cut short due to the Women's World Cup, where they were treated to a fry up and a segment on the best takeaway drinks.

Joking about the enjoyable day, Dermot asked: "Is it my birthday today?"

Alison replied: "And you're finishing early! It is your birthday, I did all this just for you Dermot O'Leary because it's our last day together, isn't it, then we've got our summer off. I'm excited!"

50-year-old Dermot then added: "Our summer break! Thank you, this is like a dream show for me!"

Following the show, Dermot then wrote on Instagram alongside a photo with Alison: 'And we are done! Love this human and this show. Have a great summer TM, see you in September x'. (sic)

With Holly Willoughby also on her Summer break, it's understood Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle will present This Morning in their absence, with more guest presenters due to be announced over the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, just last week ITV bosses reportedly made the decision to not permanently replace former host Phillip Schofield, after he sensationally resigned from ITV back in May.

An ITV source told Mail Online: "It will essentially be Holly's show. Bosses hope that they can put all of the Schofield scandal behind them and start concentrating on the content of the show rather than the twosome presenting it.

"At least this way there won't be any falling out.

"Holly is so excited about the plan, she loves Josie, Craig, Alison and Dermot."
