Ed Sheeran might still be on tour, but that hasn't stopped the singer releasing another song, this time in collaboration with Pokémon!

The singer has been teasing fans over the last week with videos of him with loads of Pokémon toys, singing clips of a new song, and now he's finally dropped the new track called 'Celestial'.

Watch the video for 'Celestial' by Ed Sheeran and Pokémon:

Writing about the new release on social media, Ed told fans: 'The video for my @pokemon track ‘Celestial’ is out now! It’s been a pleasure to work with the team who have brought so much joy to millions of people around the world. Hope you all love the video. Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet are out 18th Nov. Play the games to find the song and if you name any of your Pokémon after me, let me know x'.

The epic new video has been inspired by Ed’s childhood fascination with the Pokémon franchise and features some of his favourites such as Pikachu, Squirtle, Machamp, Snorlax and more.

Directed by award-winning director Yu Nagaba, the video follows a typical day in Ed’s life with a Pokémon twist.

Ed said: "I’ve played Pokémon since I was in primary school. Me and my brother used to have different versions of the games and would trade Pokémon together ‘til we each completed our Pokédex. I loved the cards but the games are what I lost myself in. I loved the whole world they created; it kept me distracted if there was negative stuff happening in my life/school that I wanted to avoid.

"It was a world I could escape into and I’ve played it ever since. Even though I'm 31 now, I still own the same Game Boy Color and play Pokémon Yellow or Silver on planes and trains when I'm on tour. It’s such an honour to add a song into a Pokémon game and shoot a nostalgic video too. I hope you guys enjoy the song and video - it was a blast to film!"

Proving just how much of a fan he is, earlier this month Ed showed off a Squirtle tattoo on his elbow, telling fans in a video: "OK to celebrate the new song with Pokémon 'Celestial', I've got a new tattoo... Squirtle!"

Is Ed Sheeran a Pokémon fan?

Yes! In another post the singer told fans the story behind is love for Pokémon. Sharing the artwork for his new song, Ed captioned the photo: 'I started off with Pokémon cards when the craze hit primary school when I was about 7, then the tv show was on tv so I used to try and record it over the same VHS every week. After this me and my brother shared a game boy and Pokémon blue.'

He continued: 'I got a game boy colour with Pokémon yellow for my 8th birthday, obsessed was an understatement. Flash forward to me at 31 I still have the same game boy colour and still I play Pokémon silver on long haul flights. I really really love it. It gave me a proper escape as a kid into a fantasy world that seemed to go on and on, and in adult life it’s nostalgia that makes me feel like a kid again. I met the people from Pokémon when I was travelling in Japan, and we joked about me writing a song for them. But now here we are. Celestial comes out next Thursday, and the video is insanely amazing, animated by the incredible people at Pokémon. I love it, you’re gonna love it. And we all gotta catch ‘em all.' (sic)
