It's time to dig out your Nokia 5110 and call up your friends because 90s pop sensations Five have reunited and are going on tour! Following a week of teasing fans with a huge announcement, all five members of the band, Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Abz Love and Jason 'J' Brown, have reunited.

Five ruled the charts between 1997 and 2001 with songs such as 'Everybody Get Up', 'If Ya Gettin' Down' and 'Let's Dance', and released three Top 5 albums between 1998 and 2001.

Despite the band only being around for four years before their first split, they achieved a huge amount in that short time including 11 Top 10 songs in the UK, three being Number 1s. They also won several awards including a BRIT Award, MTV Europe Music Award and nine Smash Hits Poll Winners Party awards.

Here we take a look at Five's career through the years:

1997 - Band formation and debut single

5ive were created by the team behind the Spice Girls back in 1997. Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Abz Love and Jason 'J' Brown all responded to an advert in The Stage, and were chosen from more than 3,000 hopefuls.


The band also released their debut song 'Slam Dunk (Da Funk)' in December 1997, which went to Number 10 in the UK.

1998 - Debut album release and MTV award

The band released their debut album, self-titled '5ive' in 1998. The album featured hits 'Slam Dunk Da Funk', 'When The Lights Go Out', 'Got The Feelin'' and 'Until The Time is Through', with a total of 17 songs on the standard version of the album.


5ive also won The MTV Select Award at the MTV European Music Awards.

1998 - 'When The Lights Go Out'

'When The Lights Go Out' was the first song of 1998 for the band, and the second single over all from their debut album '5ive'. The song became a massive hit in the UK going to Number 4, also becoming a Top 10 hit in the US.


The song was certified Silver in the UK, shifting over 200,000 units, and the music video has attracted more than 21 million views since it was uploaded back in 2009.

1998 - 'Got The Feelin''

1998 was also the year the band released 'Got The Feelin''. The song was a Number 3 hit for the band and Top 5 around the world including Australia and New Zealand. 'Got The Feelin'' also featured on the band's debut album and was certified Gold in the UK, selling more than 400,000 units.

1998 - 'Everybody Get Up'

'Everybody Get Up' became their biggest hit to date when it was released in August 1998. The song was written by the band, along with a team of songwriters and features samples from John Jett's 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll'.


The music video takes place in a school exam hall, where the band appear on stage and the chaos ensues as a huge party starts. Clips from this music video were used in a teaser by the band in February 2025 as they shared details of an imminent announcement.

1999 - Second album released and tour

Following the success of their debut album, the band released 'Invincible' in 1999. 5ive's second album included hits such as 'If Ya Gettin' Down', 'Keep On Movin'' and 'Will Will Rock You' with Queen. The band also went on their first headline tour in 1999 called 'Everybody Get Up with 5ive'.

1999 - 'If Ya Gettin’ Down'

Serving as the band's first single from their second album 'If Ya Getting' Down' was another Number 2 hit for the unstoppable band. The song was co-written by some of the band members along with Richard Stannard and Julian Gallagher (who formed Biffco and have worked with Little Mix, Kylie Minogue and One Direction). The song also featured a sample from Indeep's 1982 song 'Last Night a D.J. Saved My Life'.

1999 - 'Keep On Movin''

Released in October 1999, 'Keep On Moving' was the band's first Number 1 single in the UK. The song also became the 36th biggest selling single of 1999. In 2023, the song was certified 2x Platnium with more than 1.2 million units/streams.


The song features the catchy lyrics: 'Get on up when you're down / Baby, take a good look around / I know it's not much, but it's ok / We'll keep on movin' on anyway'.

2000 - BRIT Award winners and 'Invincible Tour'

Back in 2000, 5ive won their first BRIT Award for Best Pop Act, the band took to the stage at Earls Court to thank their fans. Before winning their award, the band had already opened the prestigious awards show by performing 'We Will Rock You' with Queen.


The song went on to give them another Number 1 when it was released in August of that year. Their song 'Don't Wanna Let You Go' also went to Number 9 in 2000.
In 2000 and 2001, 5ive took their second album 'Invincible' on tour.

2001 - 'Let's Dance'

'Let's Dance' gave 5ive another Number 1 hit in the UK, however, at the time of the song's release Sean Conlon had left the band, so he was replaced in the music video by a life-size cardboard cut out. The song was featured on the band's third album 'Kingsize', and was the band's second-to-last song to be released before they announced their split later that year.
'Closer To Me', a Top 4 hit for the band was their last song to be released.

2006 - 5ive reunited for the first time

Five years after they first split, the band reunited for their first reunion with four members (not Sean Conlon). At the time they planned to release another album and tour but didn't they didn't go ahead.

2012-2013 - Second reunion and 'The Big Reunion' tour

In 2012 the band reunited once again with the line-up of Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Abz Love. The members took part in the documentary The Big Reunion, which also featured B*witched, 911, Atomic Kitten and more. The band went on 'The Big Reunion' tour with the other bands as well as their own headline tour '5ive Greatest Hits Tour'.

2025 - 5ive tease a full reunion

In February 2025 5ive started to tease a reunion with all five members of the band. They started to share teaser videos across social media, and revealed there would be an announcement at 8am on 27th February.

2025 - 5ive announce UK tour

On 27th February, 5ive announced they would be going on a UK tour in October and November 2025. The band will be starting their 'Keep On Movin' 2025 Tour' in Brighton on 31st October, before travelling across the UK and ending in Glasgow on 16th November.

Have Five reunited?

Yes, for the first time in 25 years, all five members of the band have reunited. They announced the news on social media.

Are Five going on tour?

Are they called Five or 5ive?

For a while back in the 90s the band stylised their name as 5ive, however with their 2025 reunion, the band's name is officially Five. They even shared a funny video captioned: '25 years of dealing with this bulls--t… 🤣', with the words on screen saying: 'When people call us 5ive instead of Five'.
