Actor Jack Black says he’s “ready” for a potential sequel to the hit movie School of Rock!

Released in October 2003, School of Rock starred Jack Black as Dewey Finn, an energetic, down-on-his-luck guitarist who becomes a substitute teacher and converts his class to the ways of rock music.

A commercial success upon its release, the film has enjoyed continued popularity over the past two decades.

A sequel to School of Rock has been mooted since way back in 2008 when it was reported that director Richard Linklater, producer Scott Rudin, and screenwriter Mike White would return to helm the second movie.

Four years later, Jack Black told Page Six that the project had stalled, explaining: "I tried really hard to get all the pieces together.

“I wouldn't want to do it without the original writer and director, and we never all got together and saw eye-to-eye on what the script would be. It was not meant to be, unfortunately, but never say never."

Now, in a new interview with Joe to promote the new Kung Fu Panda 4 movie, 54-year-old Jack was asked if he’d still be on board for a sequel to School of Rock.

Answering in the affirmative, Jack even came up with a potential title inspired by 1984 musical sequel 'Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo'.

He said: "I wish there’d be a 'School of Rock 2 Electric Boogaloo'. I’m ready."

The actor stressed that it would be imperative that writer Mike White would have to be involved.

"You know Mike White wrote the first one and he’s a genius,” he said. “And we’d have to have Mike White back in the saddle, but he’s real busy right now with White Lotus, the best show on TV."
