Mark your calendars, there's just two weeks to go until Disenchanted joins Disney+.

Fifteen years later, we're finally getting a sequel to the Disney movie Enchanted that charmed audiences with its quirky humour, magical music and fun blend of live-action and animation.

Cast members Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Idina Menzel are reprising their original roles, and this time round we’ve a host of other famous faces including Maya Rudolph.

The highly anticipated sequel was partly filmed in Enniskerry, Wicklow and Dublin last summer.

Hollywood star Patrick Dempsey spent isolation before filming along the north coast, soaking up the beauty of our Giant's Causeway.

What happened in Enchanted?

In anticipation of this new release, it's always good to read through a refresher.

Movie critics Rotten Tomatoes offers a great review...

"Banished by an evil queen, Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) from a fairy-tale world lands in modern Manhattan, where music, magic and "happily ever after" are sorely lacking. She is adrift in this strange new place until a divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) comes to her aid. Giselle begins to fall for her flawed benefactor, but the storybook romance gets complicated when a prince from her world comes to rescue her."

What is Disenchanted about?

The official synopsis from Disney reads: "It has been 15 years since Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) wed, but Giselle has grown disillusioned with life in the city, so they move their growing family to the sleepy suburban community of Monroeville in search of a more fairy tale life.

"Unfortunately, it isn’t the quick fix she had hoped for. Suburbia has a whole new set of rules and a local queen bee, Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), who makes Giselle feel more out of place than ever.

"Frustrated that her happily ever after hasn’t been so easy to find, she turns to the magic of Andalasia for help, accidentally transforming the entire town into a real-life fairy tale and placing her family’s future happiness in jeopardy. Now, Giselle is in a race against time to reverse the spell and determine what happily ever after truly means to her and her family."
