Actor Bradley Cooper won a Grammy and singer Lady Gaga won a BAFTA
The crossover is complete...
Last updated 11th Feb 2019
Though Bradley Cooper was doubly snubbed by the BAFTAs, losing out in best actor and best director categories for A Star Is Born, he can feel some vindication that he, an actor, has won a Grammy for his first ever song. And Lady Gaga, a singer, has won a BAFTA, for her first ever role in a film!
Bradley, who attended the BAFTAs with girlfriend Irina Shayk, was on hand to accept the award, given to him, Gaga and songwriter Lukas Nelson, for best original music in the film.
In his acceptance speech, he said: ‘I got to fulfil a dream I never thought would happen,’ adding ‘I share this with Lady Gaga tonight, the music was the heartbeat of this film.’
Gaga got the news when she was still curled up on a sofa in LA, and uploaded a photo of herself with her head in her hands with shock on social media. Her caption read, ‘I can’t believe we just won Best Original Music @BAFTA ‘s . I wish so much I was there but am at the Grammy’s to show them our love as well. We made a film about music. This means the world to me. Thank u to all our fans we love u so much, we wouldn’t be here without u #BAFTAs' sic.
Later that night, Bradley and Gaga won a Grammy for best pop duo/group for Shallow. In a nod to the way the Grammys are represented in A Star Is Born - no spoilers here, but it begins hilariously and ends tragically - Gaga called for everyone to care for one another as much as she and Bradley (the 100th person in any given room) care for each other.
‘Thank you, I wish Bradley was here with me right now...I know he wants to be here.’
‘Bradley, I loved singing this song with you...I'm just so proud to be a part of a movie that addressed mental health issues. They're so important. A lot of artists deal with that, and we have to take care of each other. If you see somebody that's hurting, don't look away.’
Gaga also won a Grammy for her album Joanne, and performed Shallow - without Bradley, obvs. Though some fans of A Star Is Born might be disheartened to hear this solo version, and to watch Gaga singing the song not as nose-wearied Ally Maine, her character in the film, but as the extravagant, epic Lady Gaga. But Gaga did sing her guts out, and will be reunited at the Oscars to sing the full version with Bradley. Mark Ronson can feel safe in the knowledge he won't be required to act again any time soon.

No 'best dressed' gallery is worth its salt if it doesn't mention Lady Gaga - but surprisingly, she didn't wear one of the most eccentric outfits of the night!
Cardi B
Cardi B outdid herself and became some sort of pearl/oyster for the GRAMMYs 2019 - also using her red carpet moment to prove her marriage to Offset is most certainly back on.

The recently-married 'All About That Bass' hitmaker brought back the power shoulders.
Janelle Monáe
'Make Me Feel' songstress Janelle Monáe looked absolutely amazing on the red carpet in her wrap dress that somehow defied gravity.
Bebe Rexha
Bebe Rexha looked sensational on the red carpet, wearing a crimson layered dress.
Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa looked every inch the femme fatale in her silver dress on the red carpet before picking up the coveted Best New Artist award.
