Just two months after they were removed from their Friday slot for Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, married presenting duo Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes will make a return to This Morning next week.

The pair, who've been part of the This Morning family for a massive 14 years, will take over from full-time hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield next week, as they get their usual week off for February half-term.

The news that Ruth and Eamonn will return was first revealed during an ad-break for the popular daytime show on Wednesday 10th February, with the pair revealing they'll be back between Monday 15th and Friday 19th February.

And it sounds like This Morning fans were over the moon, with many taking to Twitter to express their excitement.

One user wrote, '@thismorning @eamonnholmes @ruthieel Its great to see you both Eamonn and Ruth back presenting This morning next week, that's a good move by This morning, hope its to stay, as I know you've both been missed presenting This morning. Cant wait to watch, from viewer.' (sic)

Another wrote, '@thismorning can’t wait see Ruth and Eamonn next week , have really missed them . True professionals always.' (sic)

A third excited viewer then commented, '@thismorning Whoop Whoop Chicken Soup. @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL are on the tele next week. So happy and so excited. The best way to spend a half term (yip, teachers are still working, and at school). But that doesn’t matter we have Eamonn and Ruth next week.' (sic)

Ruth and Eamonn have been an integral part of This Morning for the last 14 years, but at the end of 2020, ITV bosses confirmed they would be leaving their usual Friday roles, in order for Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond to take over.

A spokesperson told the Daily Mirror at the time, "They have real warmth. It's time for a change and they are perfect.

“Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made.”

Ruth broke her silence at the beginning of December, wishing Alison and Dermot good luck as on Instagram.

Re-sharing This Morning's official post, Ruth told fans, 'It’s a changing of the guard on Fridays from January. We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two!

'It’s not Goodbye from us, it’s simply Au Revoir until the next half term.' (sic)
