Michelle Keegan shares emotional message as she leaves her role in Our Girl
She played the role of Corporal Georgie Lane for four years
After four years of playing the role of Corporal Georgie Lane on hit BBC drama Our Girl, Michelle Keegan said an emotional goodbye last night (Tuesday 28th April), after the emotional series finale aired.
Series four of Our Girl certainly brought some major twists and turns! Not only was Georgie struggling to cope with losing her fiancé Elvis Harte in a bomb attack, her brother-in-law 'Fingers' was then tragically killed after a gun shot wound, and she was sent for a psych assessment.
In Tuesday night's final episode, Georgie was restored to full duties after her psych results, and later found herself in a compromising position with the real Omar, after 2 Section discovered the man they had behind bars was simply a decoy.
After Omar confessed to Georgie's face that it was in fact him who gave orders to detonate the bomb which killed Elvis, viewers thought Georgie was about to kill her enemy, but instead she rushed to treat Prof after Omar had shot him in the shoulder.
Later in the episode, viewers were overjoyed when Georgie told trainee medic Mimi Saunders that her sister was expecting a 'baby fingers', and then they were left in tears at the final moments of the series.
In Michelle Keegan's final ever scenes as Georgie, she tied her engagement ring from Elvis to a kite, before letting it go to heaven, leaving viewers in tears at the poignant scene.
One viewer wrote on Twitter, 'Crying at our girl right now', with another adding, 'I honestly thought Elvis was going to be alive and we would have a happy ending. Heartbroken at how wrong I was #OurGirl'. (sic)
However, it wasn't all sad, it looks like Georgie finally got her happy ending, by accepting a drink with Prof when the pair travel back home, a relationship fans have been championing throughout series four.
After the episode aired, actress Michelle took to her Instagram page to share an emotional video from her time on Our Girl.
She wrote, 'Stand down soldier... your mission is done ✅
