One Direction fans hopeful for a reunion tribute to Liam Payne at The BRIT Awards
Fans have been speculating online
Following the sad passing of Liam Payne in October 2024, One Direction fans have started to speculate that there could be a reunion from the band, who started their hiatus nearly eight years ago.
Recently, at a gig in Washington DC, former 1D member Zayn Malik was performing on his 'Stairway to the Sky' tour, when he asked his fans: "Did you like that one? Maybe I’ll mix it up at some point, maybe a 1D song in there or something."
In response to this comment the fans erupted in cheers, before Zayn then had to clarify: "Don’t get excited, not tonight! Sorry, I didn’t mean to tease you like (that) it’s not tonight."
However, that hasn't stopped many fans speculating that Zayn and his former bandmates could be set to reunite as a tribute to their late band member Liam. With the announcement of the BRIT Award with Mastercard nominations last week, many have suggested that the band could come together at the event.
Fans have been commenting on the video shared by a fan writing: 'I have a feeling the Brit’s is definitely happening 😭🥰☺️☺️' (sic), another said: 'Imagine if he is talking about the BRITS … 😭'. (sic)
While no official word has been given by The BRIT Awards, a number of different publications are suggesting there could be a tribute to the late singer at the annual awards, and Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik will soon be approached about a reunion on stage.
Over the years, since the band announced their indefinite hiatus in 2016, fans have been calling for a reunion. Many fans thought there would be a reunion on James Corden's final episode of The Late Late Show in 2023 after Harry Styles posted a now deleted photo of himself wearing a One Direction T-Shirt.
