Awards season is well under way, and tonight (11th January) the nominations for the all-important BRIT Awards have been announced at The BRITs Are Coming. This year the nominations include Mabel and Freya Ridings for Female Solo, and Harry Styles and Lewis Capaldi for Male Solo.

Lewis Capaldi and Dave lead the way with four nominations each, followed by Stormzy and Mabel who are all up for three each.

The BRITs Are Coming show was presented by host Alice Levine and saw some exclusive performances from Liam Payne, Dermot Kennedy, Freya Ridings, Mabel and Aitch, along with revealing the nominations for this year's awards.

At the launch show, Dermot Kennedy earned his first BRIT nomination, and performed his fantastic 'Power Over Me' backed by a grand piano and a string quintet.

The Rising Star Award, previously known as the Critics' Choice, was previously announced and went to singer Celeste. At the time she was announced as the winner of the award, Celeste said, "It’s a huge honour to be the recipient of the BRITs Rising Star Award 2020.

"Like many others, I grew up watching the BRITs and have been continually inspired by its nominees, winners and the performances. I hope to make the most of this incredible opportunity and I can’t wait to perform on the BRITS next year."

On Wednesday 18th February, the biggest names in music will descent upon London's O2 Arena for The BRIT Awards 2020, this year celebrating its 40th anniversary. Once again the show will be hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall who said, "I'm excited for another night of trying not to put my foot in it in front of the biggest names in the music industry."

The BRIT Awards 2020 airs at 8pm, ITV1 on Tuesday 18th February.
