Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's split has rocked the world of showbiz since it was announced last weekend. The couple, who have been together on-off since 2009, tied the knot in December 2018, but a representative confirmed that they had split over the weekend.

The statement read, "Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."

After Miley broke her silence following the split on Monday to share pictures of herself on holiday, Liam has now release his own separate statement. Posting a photo of a beautiful landscape, the Hunger Games star wrote, 'Hi all. Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.

'This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.'

Fans flocked to the comments section to show their support for Liam, with one writing, 'I love you both more than anything. I wish you and Miley nothing but happiness. You deserve that Liam. Thank you for trying to keep my girl happy for over a decade. You're a great guy who will find someone who wants the same thing you do❤️❤️.'

Miley and Liam first got together in 2009 after meeting on the set of The Last Song, a film in which they played lovers. In June 2012, the couple confirmed they were engaged, splitting in 2014 and reuniting in 2016 before throwing a secret wedding on Christmas Eve in 2018.
