After announcing last week that he'd been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, pop superstar Justin Bieber has given fans an update about his condition.

The 'Yummy' singer was forced to cancel a number of shows on his upcoming Justice World Tour, after suffering from the condition which causes facial paralysis.

Thanking Jesus for being with him, Justin told fans on Tuesday 14th June: ‘Each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort I have found comfort in the one who designed me and knows me. I’m reminded he knows all of me.

‘He knows the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about, and he constantly welcomes me into his loving arms.

'This perspective has given me peace during this horrific storm that I’m facing.

‘I know this storm will pass but, in the meantime, Jesus is with me.’

Over the weekend, 28-year-old Justin posted a video of himself out to this 241 million Instagram followers, with the caption: 'IMPORTANT PLEASE WATCH. I love you guys and keep me in your prayers'.

He said on camera: "Hey everyone Justin here, I wanted to update you guys on what’s been going on.

"Obviously, as you can probably see with my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis."

In the video, Justin explained he is unable to blink, flare his nostril and smile on the right side of his face due to the condition.

According to the NHS, Ramsay Hunt syndrome is 'caused by a virus in the facial nerve and is a more severe cause of facial paralysis. You may have blisters in your ears and on the roof of your mouth, as well as facial weakness. Less than half of patients will recover completely. We'll treat you with steroids, antiviral medication and give advice on eye care and facial rehabilitation.'
